Holiday Inn Resort Acapulco

We were very happy with our stay and would come back. We had room 1016 on the tenth floor, with a comfortable bed and pillows and a beautiful balcony view of the bay. We even spotted sting rays. The height could be tough if you're afraid of heights. The location is great, and the bay view is amazing. The hotel could use some updating, though it only affects the look of things. Staff were courteous and attentive, and the cleaning crew did a very good job. Breakfast buffet and poolside bar service were both good, and we met Pancha, the iguana who hangs around the hotel. Some unruly guests smoked even though the grounds are smoke free, and sitting next to them was gross as a non-smoker. That wasn't the staff's fault.

We were basically left to fend for ourselves during and after hurricane Otis. In the rush to leave my room, I left my key inside and had to pay a security guard $600.00 pesos to get in and collect my luggage so I could change into dry clothes. There were no hotel workers around to help with basics like water, food, or directions. I expected a worldwide chain like Holiday inn to be better prepared to help guests in a disaster this serious. We made it back to the states on our own, thanks to luck and some great people who helped us.

The workers were rude and flipped us off. Falta de respecto de los trabajadores. Don't stay here if you want to feel welcome.

The corner room on the 15th floor was the best in the hotel. You get sunrise through the glass door and sunset through the glass window, with amazing views of the bay and surrounding area. Once it gets dark and the lights come on, it's stunning. Staff are friendly, and Carlos at reception was especially helpful and speaks English too. Plenty of food and drinks are offered.
