Ocean Breeze Acapulco

We had such a memorable Christmas stay at the Mayan palace Golf, from Dec. 22-30. The place was beautiful, the artwork, staff, weather, everything. I came with my mother in law, sister in law, and 4 yr old son, and even with the “scary” safety reviews I’d heard in the United States, I never felt deterred. The airport pickup was amazing, and the trip to the resort took maybe 5-10 minutes. Our rooms were cleaned every day, really, every day, by a sweet woman who even left Hershey kisses. Getting to the beach meant a fun 3 minute shuttle ride from the golf palace to the Mayan palace. The drivers were great, and the shuttles ran every 3-5 minutes all night, so there was no worry about getting back after partying until 2 in the morning. If you miss one, it’s a breezy 15 min. walk back. The food everywhere was wonderful and fairly priced. Please tip well, they work so hard. The shows were magical, and the bartenders were so sweet. The pools, lazy river, and kids’ water park were all amazing, though they close at 8. My son fell asleep after dinner, and they made him a little bed out of chairs, so adorable. And don’t miss paella night, it was the best Paella I have ever had. The pool bar is calling our name, and I can’t wait to come back. Acapulco itself is breathtaking, with beautiful views and mountains, and full of history. Our original airport driver even took us on a city tour before our flight, stopped at his family’s shop where we bought fun trinkets, and gave us free beer and water while we walked around. He even stopped at McDonalds for my 4yr old. The only complaints were occasional whiffs of “sewer” smell and rooms that were a bit musty. It’s humid there, and you’re on the beach, so none of that interfered with our stay. We WILL be going back as soon as we can. The Vidante Mayan golf was a trip we’ll never forget.

The villa at Mayan Golf was nice, though it had sparse decor and the kitchen was sparsely equipped. It’s a 10min walk to the Mayan Palace pools and beach. Those pools are really, really nice, and we had a great time.

The photos show the Grand Mayan, which is a different resort, not the Mayan Palace. You can’t use its facilities except for the restaurants. The wifi is very slow.

The rooms are nice, but we've been waiting more than an hour for the food we ordered.
