We only had breakfast at Casa de Agua Ecohotel, and it was spot on. Lorena greeted us so warmly, and the whole place is tucked into beautiful, nature-filled surroundings. There’s even a Temazcal, though we ran out of time to try it. The hotel has everything you need and then some. I just wish we’d stayed longer to enjoy it all. Muchas gracias por todo, we’ll definitely be back.

Quiet, green, and full of lush scenery, this place feels like a little paradise. Make the two-hour trip from Veracruz City and you’ll be rewarded. You can spend one day rafting, then head to pre-Hispanic ruins and the ocean the next. It’s cosy, too, and everyone’s friendly.

The rooms were very clean, and Lorena, who owns the resort, was a lovely host and treated us really well. Actopan is rich in plant and animal life, with the resort close to the Actopan River, the main source of the area. It’s also near beaches and magic towns, so it makes a good place for a vacation. I had a great stay and would come back to Casa de Agua.

We arrived to find the door locked and all the lights off because they’d forgotten our reservation. When we reached the manager by phone, they admitted the mistake and suggested another hotel in the city center. With barely any cell reception and no internet signal, it was a miserable situation. Terrible service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT 😡🤬 Save yourself the trouble!
