The jungle around the cabins is lovely, though there’s nowhere outside to sit, like a bench or table. The room itself was very basic and felt overpriced. We paid 750 pesos for the smallest option with a fan; AC cost 200 pesos extra, a TV was 50 more, and WiFi was another 50 per device. The connection was meant to last 24 hours but quit overnight. We could have asked for new passwords, I guess, but that’s no help if you want to check messages first thing in the morning. There was only one outlet and nowhere to hang clothes or store bags, so we used the spare bed for our stuff. The sheets were torn, and the towels were thin, ripped, and looked like they’d been used to mop floors for years. Most rooms apparently have no toilet seat. We asked and got moved to another room for free, which was a nice surprise, but that toilet tank took hours to refill after a flush. When we told the owner, he just shrugged. The hot shower was decent. It may be the nicest place in Agua Azul, but that isn’t saying much. Other nearby hotels charge 350 pesos a night and are significantly worse.

I was only 13 when I stayed in these cabins with my family during Holy Week in 2018, on a trip to the Agua Azul waterfalls. I didn’t have a phone then, so I can’t remember whether there was internet, haha. My cabin did have a TV, though. There was just a fan, no AC, but it was cool enough that it wasn’t a big deal. You could hear noise from the neighboring cabins, as other people have mentioned. Still, it’s a nice spot to relax and get away from the stress of the city. I’d love to return someday 😭🥺🙏

The cabin was cheap and felt like good value, and it’s only a five-minute walk from the Agua Azul waterfalls. We had two beds upstairs, plus a ceiling fan and TV, but the TV never worked even after they said they’d fixed it. The room was dim, and the bathroom was cramped. Water pressure was low at both the sink and shower. We had no cell service for calls or texts. There was no internet either, which was fine for me since my family and I wanted to disconnect, though they do sell 10-hour data passes for $50 per phone. The walls didn’t block much noise. Our cabin was right beside the next one, with the bathrooms next to each other, so we could hear everything from there.

The waterfalls are right nearby, and that’s the main plus. There’s no cell service, but that’s not the cabins’ fault, and being offline can be a nice way to find some peace. We understood the price because of the location, but it didn’t feel worth it. The service wasn’t good, and we didn’t have AC, only a fan. Other rooms had TVs, but ours didn’t. We stayed with family to visit the falls, and the lack of privacy made things uncomfortable. You could hear absolutely everything from the cabin next door, even what the person was watching on their phone. The bathrooms are adjacent, and ours had no door or curtain. The shower barely flowed, about like a sink. They hadn’t left toilet paper. When we asked for more the next day, they questioned whether we could have used it all, though we’d also used up the paper we brought. We didn’t want to stay a second night, but the contract required us to. It wasn’t a terrible stay, just not worth the price.

A great base for seeing the waterfalls, though I’d keep the stay to a day or two at most. The cabins have a fan, hot water, and a bathroom, but our sheets smelled musty. Hopefully the villages can settle their issue soon so tourists can visit the area without fear.
