Antigua Casa Alameda Hotel Boutique

I had a great stay, and would definitely come back. The staff were excellent, friendly, and helpful. My first-floor room could use a blind in the bathroom, since its window is beside a bar that puts tables out on the street. Other than that, everything was great, and I'd recommend it for families, groups, or workers. I read complaints about the place not being open 24 hours, but if you knock, they open the door right away. I also saw people say the bar area music makes it hard to sleep, but I couldn't hear it from my room.

We couldn't sleep after what happened, between the frightening incident and the noise from the guests who arrived later. They seemed unaware that we could hear everything they said and did, and that this wasn't a motel. Around 10:40 at night, while we were asleep, someone started opening the door to our room. We were traveling with a minor, and the panic was awful. We jumped up and managed to push the door shut. The room shared a door with another room, and only had a bolt lock. It turned out staff hadn't been told we'd been moved to a different room, so guests assigned to the other room tried to enter. Nobody explained what was happening or apologized at the time. We were left shaken and full of adrenaline. They later apologized and I understand it was a human error, but we shouldn't have had to go through that. The owner and receptionist had been very friendly when we arrived, and we'd read good reviews. We only needed a room to sleep and shower before leaving early. They gave us a different room from our reservation, but I didn't mind since it had two beds. It was spacious, though light came in from streetlights and car headlights, with motorcycle noise and bar music outside. If you want peace and quiet, this isn't the place. Any other details about the hotel feel irrelevant after such a horrible experience.

The place is spacious and pleasant for a night or two, whether you're looking for a hotel inn or an Airbnb. It's a bit dated, but quiet and good for relaxing. One thing they should do after fumigating is clean up the dead bugs.

The old-looking carpet on the stairs is the one thing I'd change. It seems very worn and could be a problem for people with allergies, so removing it would be nice, just a suggestion. The house itself is beautiful and huge, with room for more than 15 people without any problem. The decor is pretty, the place feels cozy, and the bathrooms are enormous. Everything has a very vintage feel.
