Hotel El Cortes

There aren’t any bedspreads, just a very thin blanket, and they didn’t bring extra when I asked. The mattresses were useless, so I slept terribly. You can hear everything through the drywall, including reception staff blasting music and laughing loudly. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have stayed, and I can’t recommend it.

It’s a clean, comfortable, safe, and very nice place. The only problem is the shower water. In the morning it’s freezing cold, with no hot water. Apart from that, it’s excellent.

For a budget hotel, it’s okay for a quick shower and nap. The sheets were so-so, and I couldn’t tell whether they were a bit dirty or just worn and dingy. The real surprise was how much noise carried from the other rooms. You could even hear people farting! (laughs)

The staff were attentive, and I’ll give them that one point. Everything else made for a terrible stay. The walls seemed paper-thin, the bed springs poked through, and all we got was one sheet and two hard pillows. The TV remote wouldn’t turn the set on or off. Then the power went out for two hours, and a big group of young people kept running around until the early hours, so we couldn’t sleep. We had to shower in cold water in the morning, too. For 600 pesos, I think there are much better places to stay. One night was enough for us, we won’t be back.
