I’ve stayed at all-inclusive resorts around Playa and Cancun, but my first trip through parts of interior Mexico was even better in Ajijic. I spent four nights at Hotel Casa Blanca, a small eight-room hotel near Lake Chapala. You can walk five to ten minutes to Lake Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico, and to various restaurants, bars, and shops. The staff greeted me right away and made me feel welcome, genuinely wanting me to enjoy my stay. I also met Matt, the owner, who said the hotel was being upgraded and renovated, including a bar with food options, expected to be finished in a couple of months. I’m planning to return this coming summer and look forward to having a cocktail at the new bar. I highly recommend Hotel Casa Blanca. The hotel and everything around it made this my best Mexico trip. Thanks, Matt and staff, for a wonderful experience!

Getting around Ajijic was easy on foot since the hotel is right in the middle of town. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Casa Blanca. The staff and service were incredible, and my room was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The beautiful courtyards were relaxing, and there are great views from the rooftop. You can tell they want guests to have the best possible experience. It’s looking even better, too.

Casa Blanca is gorgeous and tucked into a peaceful spot, yet you can walk to the best parts of town. I love starting the morning among the plants, listening to birds and having their little complimentary breakfast. The plaza and boardwalk are a five-minute walk, and the mountain trail is about 20 minutes away. I also found a great massage and nail salon nearby. The hotel seems to be doing well under its new management, and I hope it keeps going that way so it’s still here whenever I visit.

We’re planning a move to the Lake Chapala area, and Hotel Casa Blanca has become our regular place to stay while we look for a home. We’ll be back often. During our four nights, Brenda made the reservation process easy and welcoming. Alejandra even went out of her way to find fresh lemons for me, and Jesús and Andrea greeted me warmly every day and seemed to know I needed ice before I asked. Their kindness felt like real care. The atmosphere made us feel at home as soon as we arrived, and the whole place is full of charm and comfort. You can see Matt’s thoughtful leadership in the details and in a team that treats guests like family. An unforgettable stay, highly, highly recommended.

The hotel is across the street from the Lake Chapala Society (LCS), a wonderful resource for Ajijic and the surrounding area, and there’s an ATM there too. From Hotel Casa Blanca, it’s an easy walk to great restaurants, shops, massage therapists, art galleries, the lake, and the town square, where you’ll find good coffee, local art, and great conversations. I adore this cute little boutique hotel and its local charm. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and amazing. Breakfast is relaxed and a nice time to chat with other visitors. I’m sure I’ll stay here again and again.
