Soiree

Soirée is on a quiet, quaint street, but it’s still conveniently close to the beach and town center. The rooms were pristine, and I liked their minimal, practical design. Having AC was a great bonus. There’s a cafe and mezcal bar on site, plus a pool and outdoor lounge area that was fun for socializing with other guests and visitors, especially in the evenings. The staff were friendly, attentive, and accommodating, and we felt very welcome.

The price was good, and the apartment had hot water and A/C, which isn’t always the case around here. It’s in a lovely, quieter part of town, close to the beach. The place itself was gorgeous and stylish, and we really enjoyed the pool and bar area.

The manager was impossible to reach beyond automated WhatsApp replies, so none of our problems got sorted. We were woken by construction at 8am after loud music from the bar kept us up until 3am, despite it apparently closing at 11pm. The hot water was out for two days, and the A/C barely cooled the room. We booked for my partner’s 30th birthday because the place looked beautiful online, the location seemed ideal, and the price seemed fair. Instead, this was one of our most disappointing stays in Oaxaca. The booking was under my partner’s name, which may be why it doesn’t show under mine. To clarify, the music went past midnight, the water was out for two days, and the A/C was too weak. Construction woke us early, whether it came from the property or nearby, and no real person responded to our concerns. We had a genuinely good time in Zipolite, but the accommodation didn’t match what was advertised. We appreciate the discount offer, but we wouldn’t come back. Hopefully this helps future guests know what to expect. At that price, it felt like a complete rip-off. There are much better places in the area, so don’t waste your money.

The mezzanine Mezcal bar was a nice place to meet people, and the property usually has pop-up chef events about twice a week. I stayed in four different rooms over two weeks. Some had private pools, others had wide views. The spot is just off the main road and only two minutes from the beach. It has everything you need, the price is fair, and I had a really good time. I’d definitely stay here again.
