The staff were genuinely helpful, and I appreciated being picked up at the airport by the shuttle. I booked online at about $220 a night after tax, a price I accepted because a coworker recommended this as one of the better places in the area. The rooms were the problem. The bedding was clean and the carpet mostly clean, but the bathroom had cracked and broken tiles, missing or moldy caulk, and mold on the hardware under the toilet, even where it looked painted over. The room trim, doors, and furniture were badly dinged. The window seals were dirty and moldy too, which I noticed when I looked outside. It gave the impression that everything had been taken out, the room quickly painted, and then put back with just a newer mattress. The shower in the first room wouldn't heat up, though the sink did, and after maintenance checked it, the shower stopped working altogether. In the second room it got hot, but was filthy. The third room, on the 7th floor, was in just as bad shape. I gave up and found another hotel about 30 minutes away, and that one was amazing. The people here tried to help and were great, but I can't justify top-end prices for rooms that felt more like a Motel 6.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with tasteful wall colors and very good beds. The furniture, carpet, and general style feel very American, though a bit dated and ready for a full refresh. The clean, good-sized pool is currently inaccessible because construction is happening around the entrance. The gym is also unavailable, but guests can use the Holiday Inn gym next door. What makes the stay enjoyable is how welcoming everyone is. Diana is a friendly, superb first-class chef at breakfast, and she always meets or exceeds my wishes. Daniel is consistently attentive when I dine in the restaurant, while Vanessa at the front desk handles my ever-changing travel needs with a friendly attitude. Miguel is equally helpful and friendly with my heavy luggage. Thanks as well to Layla, Jesus, Alfonso, and all the other helpful staff at the Crown Plaza. The breakfast buffet is excellent, and the restaurant is pretty good. Monterrey Crown Plaza Aeropuerto feels safe and is quite acceptable for a business trip. It also has free, secure parking.

The restaurant food was tasty every time, and the service was immaculate and super friendly. Getting to some businesses nearby can be rough because of the roads and all the U-turns. The airport is close, which is handy, but my room was run down and could use a refresh. It didn't feel up to Crowne Plaza standards.
