Hotel Boutique Aurea

I was staying nearby and wandered over because my hotel didn’t have a restaurant. I can’t comment on the accommodation itself, but I wanted to mention how wonderful the restaurant staff were. Hotel manager Edgar and the kitchen team were incredibly lovely and happy to help, even though I wasn’t a guest. Edgar suggested and arranged a sunrise paddleboard tour for me, and it was definitely worth the drive into town. I’d absolutely recommend stopping by to eat if you’re staying nearby.

It’s a quiet place to relax and enjoy the view. There are only eight “cabins/rooms,” which we actually liked. All the staff, Edgar, Betty, Eva, Carolina & Efrain, were kind and very helpful. When we had a problem with our door lock, they fixed it promptly. You’ll need a taxi or a rental car to get downtown or to other nearby places.

The lagoon access is private, beautiful, and really quiet, and the food is gorgeous. My friends and I were so well looked after by Edgar and Carolina. They were eager to get to know us and show us the best landscapes in the area. This place feels like a little piece of heaven. I definitely recommend it!

The staff made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. Edgar welcomed us with such warmth and professionalism, and Ruth and Carolina were just as kind and easy to talk to throughout our stay. We already want to come back. We planned to stay briefly, then loved it so much that we extended to seven nights. That gave us time to slow down by the clear blue water: reading, lounging in hammocks, kayaking and paddle boarding. Both kayaks and boards were free to use whenever we wanted, so we never ran out of things to do. With only eight cabañas, the place still felt quiet and private even when full. The grounds are beautifully laid out, with direct lake access and a long jetty. Along it are little cabañas with loungers and chairs, plus a larger one at the end with more places to sit and hammocks. Our own cabaña had a huge king bed, lots of storage and a well-equipped kitchenette, which made it easy to choose between cooking and eating at the bar/restaurant. Breakfast was included, and lunch options like ceviche and fish tacos were great. The cook was lovely and took care with how she served everything. This was easily our favorite stay in all of Mexico.
