Hotel Casa Caracol Bacalar Lagoon

The family who runs this place made our stay special, especially Frida and her son-in-law Mora. I’ve never felt so warmly welcomed at a hotel anywhere, and I travel a lot. It’s a small, family-owned boutique hotel with just seven rooms and a house called “casa caracol,” which I think can be rented for a group of up to eight. It sits beside a beautiful lagoon with direct access to the water. I loved the atmosphere and would definitely return.

A nice place to stay, with a funny and helpful host. Casa Caracol sits right by the lagoon, so you can swim and enjoy the water. Kayaks are available to rent, but at 75MX$ per kayak per hour, they’re pretty expensive compared with other places. A guided tour makes more sense. The rooms don’t have air conditioning, so nights get quite warm.

This was a lovely place for enjoying nature, simple and casual, with no frills. The rooms were clean, the food was great, and the staff were awesome when Gabby was there. The locked gate also made it feel very secure. I’m so glad we chose the less-traveled path and stayed here.

The view is nice, but the rooms weren’t very tidy and the host’s service was terrible. It felt overpriced for what you get, especially since you have to pay extra to use the property’s kayaks. Breakfast was poorly served.
