Mia Bacalar Luxury Resort & Spa

The restaurant food was good quality and the service was professional, though the menu was small. After lunch and dinner, we wanted more variety on the second day, and vegetarian choices were limited. We didn't get a chance to try the complimentary kayaks. Still, our stay at Mia Bacalar Resort was superb. The well-kept property felt upscale, and we loved the direct access to Bacalar Lagoon, also called the "Lake of Seven Colors," and its stunning views. It had comfortable luxury, lovely natural surroundings, and excellent amenities.

We used a day pass while we waited for our Airbnb check-in. They let us leave our luggage there, and the place had security cameras and a locker for just $10 per person per day. The staff were very friendly, and the location was beautiful.

The spa treatments, delicious food, and peaceful feel of the whole property made it easy to unwind and disconnect. My wife Melinda and I had an incredible stay at MÍA Bacalar Luxury Resort & Spa. The room was beautifully designed, mixing luxury with natural touches, and felt private and calm. Right beside the lagoon, the setting is stunning, with clear blue water that feels dreamlike. From arrival, the service was warm, professional, and attentive. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We highly recommend it for a high-end getaway in Bacalar, and we'll be back.

The bungalows are unique, but they need a lot of TLC, and someone needs to deal with the sewer smell. Water by the restaurant bathroom sinks smelled like sewage, and the spa smelled so bad we couldn't stay for a massage. There was no hot water in the shower, just room-temperature water, and the bathroom lighting was a joke. Breakfast on day one was good, and the service then was great. Dinner was terrible: there were only two tables, but we waited 25 minutes before asking the bar girl to find our waiter so we could order, then at least 35 more minutes for the food. Nobody checked on us. Paying took even longer because the bill apparently hadn't been entered into the system. We paid cash, so hopefully the hotel received it. Later that night I got such bad food poisoning, with vomiting and diarrhea, that I slightly messed the sheets. They charged me 500 pesos to change them because the restaurant had given me food poisoning. Never coming back, though I love Bacalar and the area.
