For the price it was passable, but the listing didn’t match what we got. There was no free minibar, one room had a broken headboard, and the towels were old and torn. AC was only in the bedrooms, leaving the living, dining, kitchen, and bathroom areas extremely hot, so we ended up staying in our rooms instead of spending time together. Breakfast was basic: bananas, apples, plain bread, coffee you had to make yourself, fruit cookies, and crackers. I would have preferred more honesty in the advertising.

I had a positive stay, and the room had what you need, apart from a microwave, so plan accordingly. The locals were friendly and I had no other issues. There are restaurants nearby, but choose carefully because I got sick after eating at one. The pool was nice, though mosquitoes made it hard to stay in for long. It’s a bit far from downtown Bacalar, so be ready to walk or bike. If you know what to eat and don’t mind the distance, I’d recommend it.

When we got back and asked about the larger room with four beds that we had booked, we were told it wasn’t available and nothing could be done. On arrival, they had given us a different room with fewer beds without mentioning the change. After hours with booking customer service, we got a free cancellation and luckily found a better place for the same price. We were glad to leave. The room we saw felt dirty and smelled bad, the Wi-Fi was poor, and the location wasn’t good.

We booked two nights but left after the first. The rooms smelled, there was only cold water, and the old pool water looked like something had died in it. The included breakfast was just coffee and a bread roll. It’s cheap, and that’s about the only good thing. It was also very loud at night. Residents of the building told us they lived in their apartments and it wasn’t our business if they made noise.
