There’s loads of room at this good value hostel, with a decent kitchen and an outdoor area dotted with a few gardens. Dorm bunks don’t have blinds. Breakfast is free, though it’s just toast and coffee.

Good value and a big garden, plus a free shuttle and entry to a beach club. A very nice hostel, and Andrés gave good service.

Even though I stayed here back in 2023, I still remember how disgusting it was. In ten years of traveling, this was the worst hostel I’ve stayed in.

The room had a bit of a smell, and I think I may have gotten bed bugs. Still, the place was nice, with a cool outdoor space, a good breakfast, and a great location. Bacalar itself is beautiful, with the lagoon and nearby cenotes. I’d suggest renting a moped to explore.

The showers and bed were nice, and the hostel has plenty of character. I’d stay again if you’re into a rustic place. There was a good vibe while I was there, with budget travelers and backpackers around; I met some genuine people and took day trips with them. The staff were friendly, including lots of international volunteers. The open garden area was really nice, and their lakeside spot is beautiful, so take the shuttle there for a day. The kitchen could use better equipment, though. I was a bit discouraged from cooking because there wasn’t much to work with.
