Hotel Puerto Mexico 2

For a long layover in Mexico City, this has worked well for me. I've stayed several times and could walk here from the airport without worrying about Ubers or taxis. It's safe and inexpensive, and everything works, even if the simple rooms, sheets, towels, and mattresses aren't new. The rooms are clean, but quite small, like typical Mexico City apartments, and none of mine has had a window facing the street. Sound travels easily. This morning I heard the guest upstairs roll out his carry-on at 2am, and restaurant staff have the TV blaring from the time they arrive at 6am. Breakfast is included, but it's basic, just coffee, toast, and fruit. Lots of guests hang around smoking, talking, and interacting. Many are men and students, which can feel intimidating as a single Caucasian woman, though I've never felt in danger. If you're after a lovely Western-style room, this may not suit you. For an inexpensive place nearby to crash between flights, it's been a great option for me.
