Casa Don Pepe

Casa Fon Pepe has no reception, and we couldn’t find any staff when we arrived. Check-in was very casual: we were just told to choose a room, with no further directions. At checkout we simply left, much the same way. There were no keys for our room, which made us uneasy about security. Staff weren’t on site, either, so getting help meant going to their private home. The rooms are very basic, with just towels and a bar of soap. I was fine with the firm bed, but even with the ceiling fan at full speed, the room barely cooled down. There’s no Wi-Fi or air conditioning, which made things less comfortable in the climate. I’d suggest adding a few basic comforts, like bottled water, a coffee maker, coffee, sugar, and powdered milk in the rooms. Casa Don Pepe may suit people who want things very simple, but anyone looking for even modest comfort and organization may find it lacking.

The pool is nice, though it drops off very steeply. The service was wonderful, and they made meals just as we requested when we supplied the ingredients. The location is great. I only wish the rooms had air conditioning, because even in October it gets very uncomfortable.

We were a group of 16, with two teenagers, two toddlers, and a dog, and we all felt very comfortable. The all-day service was friendly, and the cooking was excellent, with all our wishes taken care of. There’s a beach restaurant, though we didn’t try it. The house was cozy and clean, on a huge, beautifully landscaped property. The beach was one of the most beautiful Ixtapas, with light, powdery sand and a very flat way into the water. We’ll be back!

Bring bug spray, the strong kind that gives you cancer. The property is gorgeous, beautifully landscaped, and well kept. Staff were absolutely wonderful, and the food was incredible. It’s paradise.
