Hotel Playa de Oro

The location is very central, within walking distance of the beach and friendship bridge. The hotel has a pool and secure self parking, though the pool has been packed with screaming kids since I've been here, so I probably wouldn't use it anyway. Two blocks away, on my walk to the oxxo, I passed another hotel advertising double rooms for 499. It didn't have a pool, but I don't care about that. I paid 885 for one night as a single person, and I don't think this place is good value. For that price there are much nicer hotels nearby, and I'm disappointed I didn't choose one. I wouldn't stay here again. The room was very basic. There were lots of ants on the walls around the plugs, the TV remote didn't work, and the toilet barely flushed. Pigeons roosted on the shower ledge and kept me awake. I could clearly hear housekeeping and other noise in my room from 6 a.m., as well as traffic and other guests above, beside me, and at the pool.

Horrible.

During our four-night visit over New Year, we paid a little over $6000 MXN. The place was comfortable, the bathrooms were a bit small but still fine, and the food was affordable. Staff cleaned the room daily around midday. The people working there were very friendly from the moment we arrived, and check-in was quick. The only thing that bothered us a little was the traffic noise in the room during the early morning, since the hotel is on a busy street. There are cafés, fondas, and a plaza nearby. Good place, good service, and a good price. I'd visit again.
