Hotel Humano felt so peaceful, and the pool was like a private oasis. We could have lounged there all day. The setting is stunning, and the pool staff were lovely and attentive. The rooftop is gorgeous at sunset, with live music or a DJ on some nights, and there was rooftop yoga overlooking the beach once during our week. We stayed for a whole week and had an incredible time. The design is beautiful, and the location puts you in a lively neighborhood, though music has to be turned off at 11pm, which worked perfectly for us. We loved the food at the restaurant for both breakfast and lunch. Everyone on staff was lovely and helped with whatever we needed, from recommending a nearby gym to booking tours and suggesting beaches based on the kind of day we wanted. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for the best week ever!

The rooms are compact, but were very clean and thoughtfully looked after. There can be some noise until around 11:00 pm, so light sleepers may want to plan for that. Even so, I found the stay relaxed and felt well cared for. Hotel Humano’s brutalist-chic design gives it a stylish, distinctive feel in Puerto Escondido. The service was warm and attentive, and the location made it easy to walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. My favorite surprise was the resident kitten, Olivia Mandarino. She completely stole my heart.

Patrick at the front desk is an awesome guy, and the food and cocktails were good. I liked the architecture, pool area, and rooftop bar. The place feels tucked away even though it’s right in the middle of the area. For a 5 start, though, the rooms should be designed a lot better. I get the minimalist look, but there’s no hairdryer, fridge, or iron in the room unless you request one. The sink layout is awkward, and the lighting is so dim that showering in the dark feels difficult. Service from staff was inconsistent. The continental breakfast was good, but for the room price and overall cost, I expected more.

The restaurant and rooftop bar team were very friendly, and the hotel’s architecture looks stunning. Still, I was pretty disappointed. The hotel rates itself at 5 star, and the building may deserve that, but that’s where the five stars stop. We lost power for over 4hrs, with no communication or compensation, and couldn’t use the facilities, including the toilets. The pool area was repeatedly used by people who weren’t hotel guests, sitting around and taking photos. It felt like a real lack of privacy and made it hard to relax. It’s on the main strip, so it’s far from quiet, especially in the evenings. The room was more than basic in what it lacked: no fridge, full length mirror, or standard iron and hairdryer. When I asked for an iron, they gave me one, but there was no board, so I had to iron on the bed. There was no light in the shower, making it difficult to navigate, and only 4 hangers for clothes with very little storage. The toilet constantly smelled of sewage. We had to keep the toilet door closed at all times to try to mask it.

The team was accommodating with dietary restrictions and even surprised us with a treat when we left. We loved the location for exploring town on foot, and the rooftop was a beautiful place to catch the sunset. There’s also a cozy pool and a spacious entry beneath the beautiful, minimal architecture. It was an amazing stay in one of my favorite coastal towns, with a warm, local culture. A few small things could make future visits even better: softer beds, extra blankets, and a full length mirror.
