Sunset Suite Vallarta

We had a wonderful time with our family, including our one-year-old. The staff were attentive and caring, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped make the trip stress-free. ANAHI from entertainment was a delight and kept us engaged at the pool. CIELO from housekeeping was also so kind. She listened to our needs and concerns and helped sort out a couple of room issues.

We had a relaxing, safe week with four adults and three kids in two rooms. The resort was very clean, the pool was fantastic, the beach was close, and the weather was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I’d recommend staying here. A few small things would have been useful to know while researching. We had some picky eaters, and the food choices didn’t work for everyone. Since it was spring break, we expected more kid-friendly options. There were vegetarian dishes, but cross-contamination meant you couldn’t avoid some meat entirely. Guests also put towels on beach chairs early in the morning to save them. Without that, there would be enough chairs for everyone. I’d add more nighttime activities if I could change one thing.

The food was great, the rooms were clean, and I loved my stay. The service was AWESOME. Marco, the concierge, helped us every day with seating at the beach or pool. Oscar, our server at the grill restaurant, was professional, thoughtful, and lovely. We had him for two nights, and he’s legitimately the best server I’ve ever had.

Our group had a good time at the Skybar in the evenings. It would be far too hot and sunny there during the day, but after sunset it was a great place to unwind. The evening entertainment near the lobby was also well organized and made for a nice short distraction. The beach was pleasant, even though the water was quite wavy during our visit, and volleyball was our favorite activity there. The adult-only pool was usually not too busy, and we could always find a chair or two. The family pool, on the other hand, was generally packed. Bars, buffets, and snack bars often had lines. Food and drinks were fine, but nothing special. The à la carte restaurant meals were excellent, though booking them was a bit of a chore, especially because there was no WiFi in our room. Room WiFi was nonexistent. Our WhatsApp concierge acknowledged our requests to fix room problems, but nothing was ever corrected. The room was almost empty: one chair, no balcony chairs, a broken and empty fridge, no phone, no hairdryer, and only a top sheet on the bed. The plumbing made a machine-gun-like noise every time we flushed. The coffee machine made awful, rotten-tasting espresso. Elevators were painfully slow and small for a resort this size. We were on the 9th floor, and sometimes taking the stairs was quicker. We arrived early, so I understood that the rooms weren’t ready at first. But we still waited well past our scheduled check-in time before getting key cards. In general, very little impressed me. A staff member hounded us at a meal to leave a Google review, so here’s my honest take: if you find a super cheap deal and go in with very low expectations, I can see this being worthwhile. Otherwise, I might not be too disappointed.
