Julio, the bellman, was courteous and helpful, and seemed to care about his work. Beyond that, our stay was full of problems. The room had visible mold, the balcony wouldn’t open, and the linens were old and worn. The hotel as a whole felt rundown and neglected, with poor management and staff who seemed largely unsupervised and unmotivated. Service was inconsistent. We had trouble getting simple requests handled more than once. There was no fridge, so we asked for an ice bucket to chill drinks and were refused. I had to go to the restaurant to get one myself. If that’s the policy, guests should be told; the small buckets in the room weren’t useful for chilling drinks. Another time, I needed more coffee for the in-room maker and had to go down to the lobby to get it. The place felt understaffed and poorly maintained. I don’t know what IHG does to check its property standards, but this certainly isn’t the Waldorf. Disclosure: I used AI assistance to help organize and draft this review, but the experiences described are my own.

We had a great time, and the view was good. The restaurant across the street was great, and parking is available. The Campeche malecón is long. You can rent a scooter across the street at the park if they’re open.

I had a large room with a comfortable bed, and the balcony gave me lovely ocean views and sunsets. The concierge and staff were great. I stayed one night in November 2024 and would happily come back on my next trip to Campeche. It’s in a wonderful location. There’s no Uber in Campeche, but that’s not the hotel’s fault. I’d recommend it to other travellers.

Breakfast at the restaurant was great, and Santiago and Juan Torres were excellent. The room was great too, with an ocean view. There’s self-serve laundry at no extra charge. The only disappointing thing was that, for some reason, our balcony had no chairs.

Heribierto in the bar/lounge was a bright spot, very friendly and speaks English well. The rooms are comfortable, the amenities are good, and the pool is great. The laundry machine is a real help for long-term travelers. Food at the restaurant was only okay, either overcooked or lukewarm. A few restaurants are nearby, but most things you may want to do are a bit far, and taxis were hard to catch. The walls are so thin I could hear every word of the couple arguing next door.
