Casa Balam

We had to leave the car parked outside, but it was secure and caused no problems. The location, service, and price were all great. Javier and the staff were excellent and very accommodating during our four-night stay. We arrived very early in the morning, and Javier let us check in then. The walls could have been better at blocking sound. I also would’ve liked more bathroom space and a rug beside the bed.

The location is handy for shopping, eating, and enjoying Mexican culture, and the rooms are cheap. Still, the photos are misleading. They charged extra because of the exchange rate, adding another $30 to the total. Our room was large, but there was mold on the walls, and we left Mexico sick. We asked to move rooms, but they didn’t let us. If you’re considering staying here, look at the room before paying.

The rooms could use some care because of the humidity and a bit of mold, but otherwise we had a great stay. We were there for 17 days, and the girls who work there were awesome. The place felt secure, the area was good, and it was close to everything. Thank you to Jesse, Sheila, and the lovely woman who helped us when we arrived. Gracias! 😊

For what you pay, this is a clean, pleasant place with friendly people, and I’d recommend it. A few things to know: hot water wasn’t really available, there’s no breakfast, and the room window faces the staircase and can’t be closed, so some outside noise comes in. They also charge extra for credit card payment.
