Hotel Imperial Laguna Faranda

For a budget backpack traveller, this place was worth what I paid for 7 nights. It has an old rustic, classic feel and a cool design, with different types of rooms. It's in a beautiful spot across the lagoon from the party district. The back patio has sun chairs overlooking the lagoon, plenty of shade from the palms, an outdoor shower for after swimming, and a bathroom by the pool. The pool has good water and a deep end around 6 feet. My king-size bed was comfortably firm. The room had an air conditioner with a remote, a working TV, and a balcony. The staff were friendly, there was coffee and a light breakfast each morning, and the other guests I met by the pool were nice. The R2 bus route is right next to the hotel. Being away from the party district meant I could sleep, but I could still watch the fireworks from the coco bongo and hear what was going on across the way if I wanted. It was pretty and fun. This is the place to stay for a budget backpack trip, as of September 2025. Saving on a place to sleep leaves more money for activities around Cancun during the day. If I come back on another budget trip, I'd definitely book here again. For anyone who had a bad experience before, it seems like the hotel has listened over time. A couple of things could be better. The pool closes at 8pm, which feels early if you come back late and want a swim. I wish the lagoon-side restaurant and bar were still operating, though they do appear to be closed down. Also, the hot and cold taps are reversed. It took me a day to figure out the hot water.
