Mansion Giahn Inn

The Wi-Fi worked well, and the AC in our room was fine. The staff also managed to fix the hot water after we had trouble with it. Still, arriving at night felt unsettling because there was no sign outside and the place was poorly lit. Inside, the room smelled strongly of damp, with ants and dead bugs around. The bathroom door creaked, the key was oxidized, and there was no TV. The pool was dirty and out of order. The price might have been fair, but all of this brought down my rating.

I liked being away from Cancun's Tourist/Hotel area, and the Mansion was still a reasonable distance from the airport and shopping. It's a distinctive old building with plenty of character, and I imagine it has a story behind it. I enjoyed my stay and plan to come back. The host welcomed me warmly, and the staff were good too. My room was clean and decent, the nights were quiet, and I felt safe. There's an outdoor pool, plenty of fresh drinking water, and Wi-Fi. The price was good. Renovations were underway, though they didn't bother me. If your Spanish is rusty, a language app can make communication easier and help prevent frustration.

A good, inexpensive place. I stayed there before flying out of Mexico, and the owner let me leave my bag and stay on the property the next day while I waited for my flight.

The house looked very beautiful during the day, but the nights were frightening and not at all family-friendly. Workers played music until 2:30 a.m., and later they were running around, yelling and screaming while apparently very intoxicated. The Wi-Fi didn't work in our room, so my children sat outside to use it. One male worker used the restroom in front of them, and I had to tell the kids to stay inside after that. Go somewhere else.
