The first-come, first-served restaurants were easy to get into when we went at 5:30 p.m., but at 7 p.m. you might have to wait a bit. We loved Bluewater Grill, especially the ribeye, which we ordered three dinners in a row. The cocktail-making class ran several times a week, and it was fun learning to make drinks that tasted great. Coco Cafe had plenty of coffee choices, more than a dozen ice cream flavors, and treats. There were several bars, but only some carried the limited top-shelf liquor, so you have to ask for it. We spent a week here and had a wonderful time. There was lots of seating inside and outside near the beach. The staff were polite, friendly, and attentive. Their app was the easiest resort app I’ve used, and room service was fairly quick, usually around 30 minutes. Restaurant choices included French, Mediterranean, Japanese, Mexican, and steakhouse options, plus a buffet with a decent range of food. Our room was very clean and regularly stocked with good drinks and coffee. The pools were fantastic, thanks Martin and Angel! The whole property is large but felt like a boutique hotel. They’d thought of lots of little extras to make guests comfortable. The beach access closes at 8 p.m. sharp, so plan around that if you want a sunset walk. It was a great stay and I’d gladly come back. And another plus, no kids.

We loved the Preferred Club lounge and pool area. They were beautifully maintained and made us want to stay put. The bars served familiar brands like Don Julio, Hornitos, Cointreau, Jameson, and Baileys. Juan at the Rendezvous bar really knew his craft. The staff were terrific across the resort. Martha at the concierge went out of her way to arrange medication delivered to the hotel, Ronaldo made our hibachi dinner memorable, and Antelmo was friendly and attentive as our poolside server. We also enjoyed morning yoga with an ocean view and the drink-making classes. We stayed five days in February 2026, booking a Preferred Club Oceanfront Terrace with points. This newly renovated all-inclusive in Cancun’s Hotel Zone was a five-star stay for us. Check-in was quick, and the room was spacious and luxurious, with a walk-in shower, very hot water and strong pressure, separate sinks for him and her, and a huge patio with an amazing ocean view. We tried every restaurant and liked them all, but Bluewater Grill was our favorite overall. The menu had meats from all over, and the beef empanadas and Chorizo Argentino were excellent. Olio was a close second for breakfast, with lots of juices, smoothies, and healthy plates. The buffet was the one area I’d improve, since it felt crowded on the few times we went. I’d also suggest asking the lifeguard to ease up on the whistle. I know he was keeping everyone safe, but he seemed a little overzealous. We’ll definitely be back. It’s a great place, and only about 15 minutes from the airport.

We ended up extending our vacation by a day, largely because the staff made our stay so enjoyable. Hugo and Alen at Bluewater Grill were a big reason we went back for dinner twice. They remembered us, our favorite drinks, and even what we’d ordered before. Their warmth and attention made us feel cared for, not just like another table. Carlos at the Main Pool was attentive and friendly, checking that everyone had what they needed and making pool days relaxing. Carlos at the Sky Bar also gave wonderful service, always with a great attitude, and made each visit a highlight. All four of them, Hugo, Alen, and both Carloses, made a real difference to our trip. My fiancée and I had an incredible stay. We’re grateful for the care we received, and can’t wait to come back.

The entertainment and shows added a lot to our vacation, and the activities and fitness instructors made each day fun. The pool team was wonderful, too. Food was excellent, with lots of tasty choices, and the drinks were fantastic. From the moment we arrived at Secrets Maribel Cancun, Mexico, the welcome and service were outstanding. Staff across the resort were friendly, professional, attentive, and quick to help. Everything felt well organized, and it was clear people took pride in making guests comfortable. Thank you to the reception, housekeeping, restaurant teams, bartenders, pool attendants, entertainers, and everyone working behind the scenes. We’re so happy with our stay, grateful for the care, and would love to return. ❤️🌴☀️

The food and drinks were a highlight. El Patio was excellent, especially the churros, probably the best thing we ate all week. Bluewater Grill also stood out for its empanadas, perfectly cooked entrees, and great service. The teppanyaki at Himitsu was the trip’s highlight and a must-do. Olio would be the one restaurant we’d skip next time. The signature cocktails were consistently fantastic, so I’d pass on the wine list. This was our first Secrets stay, after a great experience at Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, so we arrived with high expectations. We enjoyed the vacation, though there were ups and downs. The hotel feels fresh and renovated, and the AC works so well we were cold at dinner and in the room, which we preferred to being too hot. The Preferred Club lounge and Sky Bar were excellent, but the Preferred Club pool had little meaningful rule enforcement, so the upgrade felt less exclusive than we expected. Service was the main frustration. At check-in, one staff member repeatedly joked at my partner’s expense, then spent more than 20 minutes trying to sell us the vacation club after a long travel day. We also often saw staff on their phones. I speak Spanish and had no communication trouble, but my partner doesn’t and sometimes got wrong information or service because of language barriers. Once we found staff whose style suited us, things improved a lot. Jerry at the Preferred Club pool bar, Juan at Rendezvous, and Alen at Bluewater Grill were especially great. Despite some frustrations, we had a good vacation thanks to the food, cocktails, amenities, and standout staff.
