Eco Hotel Jadan Chechen

I’d avoid booking this place through Airbnb. When we first arrived, the on-site manager said they had no reservation for us, the room wasn’t ready, and they hadn’t received our payment. I showed proof, but they said it wasn’t in their system and that the person behind the Airbnb listing hadn’t worked there since March. They spoke very fast Spanish and didn’t speak English, so my wife could only catch some of what was said. They then said the card charge was only a hold and they wouldn’t take the money. Something felt wrong, so I left, requested a refund through Airbnb, and looked for somewhere else. We couldn’t find a suitable place nearby and went back. I still hadn’t heard from the host about the refund. This time the staff were very nice and offered to reduce the night’s price from 1,500 pesos to 900, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt and stayed. A few minutes later I saw an email saying the host had refused my refund. I complained to Airbnb and am still waiting for a response. Later, a family who had booked through Expedia told me they’d also had to pay cash, while money had been taken from their card, and the host refused their refund. I also saw another couple arrive with an Airbnb reservation and get the same story from the manager, who asked them for cash. I warned them about what had happened to us and that their refund might be declined despite what the manager said. I have a receipt from the mother showing I paid cash. Airbnb should be quick to respond and close the host’s account. They have several ads for the same place. Don’t go there. We think they were all lying, even though they were trying to be nice to us.
