Hotel De Santiago

The view was nice and it's very close to the center, but the low price didn't make up for the problems. The beds were uncomfortable, there were cockroaches, and the walls were damp. I don't think it's worth staying here.

The location is pretty good, and we chose it for the low price while passing through for one night. Still, the bedrooms and bathroom were worn out and broken. Water pressure was barely there, the shower curtain was missing, and the bed frames were broken. There were holes in the walls, some lights didn't work, and the few outlets were far from the beds. We wouldn't stay again.

The hotel is in a great spot, just one block from the center, so it's easy to take a short walk after a meal. This visit was a big change from three years ago, when our two-room booking wasn't honored at the quoted price, the receptionist took no responsibility, and we had no hot water, faulty remotes, and cockroaches. Back then I wouldn't have recommended it. This time the reservation went smoothly, and we didn't have to book through OYO, which has a monopoly on hotels in Chiapa de Corzo. The reception staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, there was hot water, and everything worked pretty well. I highly recommend it now.

The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the hotel is close to the canyon pier and two blocks from the main square. We had to leave our car outside since there isn't private parking.
