Courtyard by Marriott Chihuahua

There was no working air conditioning, the plumbing didn’t work, and there weren’t any ice machines. I had a much better stay at the Four Seasons.

There are lots of restaurants and cafés nearby, along with shopping, so the location is probably the hotel’s best feature. The renovation made the stay harder: only one elevator was available, and getting to or from our floor took a long time. Service was adequate, though nothing memorable. At check-in, I was given a different room from the one I’d booked, which got our stay off to a delayed start.

The location is quite good, and the service was fine, neither special nor bad. But this was my second stay in four months, and the same problems are still there. Only one very slow elevator was working, even though they’d been trying to add another for at least four months. My loyalty number somehow gets removed from the reservation during or after checkout. Then I don’t receive points or elite nights, and the stay disappears from the app entirely.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and really nice, and breakfast was great. The coffee staff were always friendly and quick. The elevator work made a lot of noise and sometimes the elevator wasn’t working at all. Loose boards also banged in the wind through the night and kept me awake. And for two of my three nights, there was no hot water for the shower.
