Santa Josefita

The room was beautiful, though the bathroom ceiling was so low I couldn’t stand upright in it. The hotel itself is really cute, but parking wasn’t convenient: it was across the street, and we had to carry our luggage quite a distance. Charging for parking after advertising that the hotel has it felt a little deceptive. I also thought 250 pesos per night was excessive for our little Chihuahua.

From the terrace on the top floor, we could see the volcano and the church on top of the pyramid. Our room was very clean and had what we needed, including a hairdryer, locker, and free bottles of water. This green, spacious, nicely decorated little oasis is a welcome contrast to the busy town. The staff were professional and helpful, welcomed us warmly, and supported us throughout the stay. It felt really nice to be there.

The breakfast was perfect, and the staff were so kind. Santa Josefita B&B felt authentic, with plants and art throughout, and it was close to amenities and felt safe. The security guy even waited outside while we got into our taxi early in the morning. We had trouble sleeping, though. The first-floor rooms were humid, with just a tiny window for fresh air, and the thin walls let in fireworks and other guests talking loudly outside the rooms at 4am. They really should keep it down.

The location is handy, within walking distance of the main attractions, and the building itself is attractive. But it felt overpriced for the quality, and parking costs extra. Don’t stay here if you rely on working Wi-Fi. The old building has thick walls, and they haven’t brought in someone skilled enough to set up a proper system. They offered a router as a repeater, but the signal in the room was so weak that it didn’t help.
