Hampton Inn by Hilton Ciudad Juárez

I was in town for company business on Dec 7, 2023, and had a terrifying experience. Someone forced their way into my room, and I was effectively kidnapped. They threatened me and tried to extort my family, bringing up a notorious Cartel. I believe hotel staff may have leaked my personal information to them. Otherwise, I don't know how they would have called me and had someone at my door shouting my name, claiming there was a security protocol and asking me to open up. I reported what happened to Hilton Corporate Compliance, but never got a follow-up call. My family and State Police (Ministeriales) acted quickly and began checking local hotels for me. That seems to have prompted the people holding me to move me out of the hotel, giving police a chance to search for me. They were trying to take me to a local cafe when a police operative arrived and rescued me. After giving my statement at police headquarters, I checked out at about 1:00PM. The hotel still charged me a late checkout fee, and I was never reimbursed. They said they needed my bank account information to refund it, which I was understandably unwilling to provide. My employer changed its safety rules after this and no longer allows overnight stays in Mexico. I would not recommend this hotel, and I urge people to stay away.

The driver drove so aggressively that we nearly crashed about three times with passengers in the vehicle. They need to be more careful about who they hire. If this is the kind of person they let put people at risk, it makes me wonder about the other employees too.

The rooms were spotless and I felt very secure. The service was excellent.

The location is great, and this used to be my favorite hotel, but I'm not sure I'd stay again. It needs remodeling. I was told there might be water problems, yet had issues for the rest of my stay. The shower floor was slippery and the drain kept clogging, and housekeeping didn't refill the shampoo or conditioner until the end. Then a large group of school teenagers arrived and the rest of the week was chaotic. They ran through the halls, shouted, played music on speakers, left trash around, and messed with the elevators. There was noise early in the morning and late at night, and breakfast got crowded in the mornings. It was just crazy.
