Hotel Dunas

I liked the breakfast they served in the restaurant. The rooms are quite small, though, so this is mainly a good option if you’re in town for consulate appointments.

I’m really upset. We came to Ciudad Juárez for a few weeks and didn’t know when my visa would arrive, so we paid for one extra day. We never stayed that day, but they wouldn’t return our money or provide breakfast to make up for the breakfast we’d paid for, either for the trip back to the airport. There were even bugs on the toilet paper. Their only explanation was that online payments aren’t refundable. Terrible attitude and service, with all this stress on top of everything else.

The location is the one thing going for this hotel if you’re applying for a visa. Medical, biometrics, and the Consulate are just a 5-10 minute walk away. But the room temperature can’t be adjusted, even with the thermostat, and the showers have no hot water. You’ll either be freezing under thin sheets or unbearably hot. For the price, that’s a real disappointment, and I wouldn’t recommend the hotel because of the poor room service.

The parking is a long way from the rooms, so getting your bags there is a challenge if you have a lot of luggage. It was below freezing during our stay and there was no heat. I called several times and was told maintenance was on the way for two hours, then that they were working on it, and eventually that they couldn’t fix it. I was left to deal with the cold. When I asked for a partial refund because some of the services I paid for weren’t provided, they said no.
