Best Western Plus San Jorge

The front desk staff spoke good English, which helped since I don't speak much Spanish. Everyone was incredibly friendly and worked hard, and the breakfast was amazing. It's very pet friendly too. I'll be staying here again at Christmas.

The breakfast cafe was pleasant, but there wasn't much else to enjoy. Litter was scattered around what used to be a nice green space, and a large, noisy party went on all evening. They filled the pool and left a lot of trash behind. We were also assigned a room in a disturbing location. Guests should be able to check both the room and its location before being assigned somewhere that doesn't suit their needs.

The location is convenient, but after my second and third visits, a few days apart, and the follow-up, I won't return or recommend the hotel. The same hotel-driven charge appeared on both visits. I reported it and asked for a refund at checkout, and the front desk, who couldn't resolve it themselves, assured me I'd get a discount on my return stay. Instead, manager Cristel refused to consider my first complaint, and the rate for my second visit had gone up by exactly the disputed amount. When I asked about the rate, I got a shrug and was told I'd be charged even if I decided not to stay. I urged the staff to contact Cristel. The same extra charge showed up again the next day. At checkout, the front desk staff were embarrassed and apologetic but said Cristel had instructed them to tell me he didn't believe me, effectively calling me a liar. I kept pursuing it by email, and Cristel eventually agreed to a refund, then stopped responding.

The room photos were nothing like what we found, which felt like false advertising. I didn't take pictures, unfortunately. I barely spent any time at the hotel, and my stay was okay, but I'd ask to see a room before paying. Breakfast wasn't a buffet: a waiter brought a small plate with about four fruit slices and coffee or juice, plus a choice of four menu items. Anything extra cost more, and remember to tip. The pool was nice, though it isn't gated, so don't leave small children outside alone. I won't stay here again. Next time I'll try the Holiday Inn next door.
