Hostal Casa Huasteca

We stayed a few nights while taking waterfall tours. The hostel was clean, and the staff were friendly. It’s in centro, with many restaurants within walking distance. Credit cards are accepted, except for breakfast, which costs 80 pesos and is cash only. The common area is open to the breeze and fresh air. At night it wasn’t too loud if your room didn’t face the street.

Most of the hostal staff, especially the ladies, were phenomenal, but Gerardo was an exception. He overcharges for the activities he takes you to. Avoid their tours, taxis, and rentals since they’re overpriced. There’s a travel agency two doors down you can use instead.

I spent two nights here and it was very quiet. The beds were fresh and clean, and there’s a great kitchen and a lovely outdoor area to relax in. Rooms have AC.

The garden and dining area feel like a little oasis, so you don’t feel like you’re in a city. We stayed four nights while travelling around the Huasteca region, and Claudia was incredibly kind and caring. She helped us with everything, including getting to the beautiful waterfalls and Puebla mágicos nearby. Breakfast was delicious, generous, and very cheap. The rooms and beds were perfect, with the best sleep we’ve had in a hostal, and the hot water was super hot. Great value for money. I’d recommend renting a car to explore freely, since buses and public transport aren’t very frequent.
