Hacienda Viga 2020 Hotel

The scenery is lovely, and the poolside couches are a nice extra. Our room’s shower head sprayed unevenly, and water leaked out under the shower door. WiFi speeds were terrible, whether I tried working or just using social media. A bit more care with these details would make the stay more enjoyable and bring it closer to the luxury hotel experience.

We hardly slept during either of our two nights because music was blaring directly below us until 4 a.m. The owners seem to run the place like a party hostel for drunk teenagers, and when we asked staff to enforce the hotel rules, they were completely incompetent. The room was filthy: dirty floor, bed covers, and a toilet that looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The shower leaked badly, and its faucet sprayed straight at my chest. This feels like a two-star hotel hoax. They charge four-star prices, but for what we got, it should cost far, far less. At most, 700 pesos per night. There are much better options in cuarto cienegas. This was the worst money we’ve ever spent.

The power kept cutting out during our weekend visit, leaving the AC broken for twelve straight hours in the middle of the summer heat. The outages also affected the water system, and the WiFi was another problem. I didn’t get the stay I expected from a hotel rated four stars. I’d strongly suggest looking at another hotel in town before risking utility problems and little response from staff when you need proper hospitality.
