Holiday Inn Cuernavaca

Breakfast in the middle of the hotel added to the resort atmosphere. It was a buffet with an omelette station, though I waited longer than expected for one even though I was the only person waiting. The cook was busy with other things, but the rest of the breakfast staff were very friendly. My room was clean and the bathroom tidy, if a little cramped. The king room with a view I'd booked was smaller than I expected. The bed was comfortable and I slept well, although all the pillows were firm and I prefer soft ones. This Holiday Inn has a leafy, secluded resort feel that captures Cuernavaca, the “City of Eternal Spring,” even though it's right in the city. I only stayed a night. Check-in was slow despite friendly staff, and when I got to my floor the hallway was completely dark, so I used my phone flashlight to find the room. It felt like an Indiana Jones adventure, luckily the room wasn't far. Checkout went faster, but getting the invoice still took longer than expected.

The room was okay, but pool service wasn't attentive. The pool gets extremely noisy, with lots of kids and families, so it's not the place for a couple wanting a quiet weekend or a peaceful swim. For a large family, though, it offers good value and is a great option.

Weekdays tend to be quiet, while weekends usually bring lots of families, so it's a family friendly place. As things stand, it's one of the better hotels. The little bar has only a limited drink selection and shuts at 11 pm. Food service ends at that time too, so arriving later means you'll need to find food outside.

The room was clean, and the wifi was fast enough for work. The restaurant is fine, but costs quite a bit more than eating downtown. The hotel is about 10 minutes from downtown, with not much to see or do nearby.
