Hotel Puerta del Cielo

Quiet spot, and a nice place.

There’s no food service, no parking, and they take no responsibility for vehicles. A room for two is $450.00 pesos. The garden is small and neglected, as is the little pool. Only three rooms are available, and the service is terrible. The building is extremely old, poorly kept, and partly in ruins.

The room was a good size, and although the water heater was off when I arrived, I did get hot water. The staff were friendly, but not very attentive, and the hotel has no clear check-in or guest system. I’d planned to pay by card on site, but their terminal wasn’t working, so I had to use cash. Broken windows patched with tape and the general old, neglected look show how much work the place needs. It has potential, but I’d recommend it only as a last resort.

The staff are friendly, but that’s the one positive. The idea behind the place was good, yet it’s completely neglected: very dirty walls, worn-out sheets, and filthy curtains. It’s been a while since the walls were painted, and the bathrooms aren’t maintained either. Nothing looks like the photos, which are misleading. This shouldn’t be listed as a hotel.
