Racquet Cuernavaca

The buffet was just OK, and when more varied food finally came out, we were told those new items would cost extra. I've never seen that before. We also had to pay for ice to bring to our room. No towels were left there when we arrived or the next day, and we only got them after calling. The pool bar and its installed phone for service weren't working, so we had to go down to the restaurant; service then took about half an hour, if it arrived at all. Mini golf was out of order. The tennis area was nice, but the rental racquets looked like they were from the 1980s, so you'd need your own. The restaurant service was the biggest problem. Some waiters and waitresses were lovely, but Damian was incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. He said clients had to accept a 30-minute wait for breakfast, and to stay quiet while he explained how to order it for a better price, or risk being charged more. He also told us there was no orange juice while other waiters served it at other tables throughout the two hours we were there. We waited the full two hours for breakfast, which left a terrible taste on the first day of our vacation. We spoke to the restaurant manager and received apologies. The other staff treated us very nicely over the following days, but on my last day, during the business part of my trip, I was having breakfast with an important professor. She asked Damian if they could please serve her soon because they were taking so long and we'd be late. He literally told her, "Well, I'm sorry, but you will have to wait as much as needed to get your food." I'm taking the time to write this because it's upsetting to spend our own money, or money from the companies and institutions paying to host their guests, and be treated and spoken to so unprofessionally. It's also sad that one waiter could overshadow the hard work of the other staff. This is an OK hotel that could be so much better with proper maintenance and the right staff to run it well.

The service was pretty bad. I asked them to book a taxi at 18:00 for 19:00, and they said it would arrive in 15 minutes. It didn't. I suspect the receptionist never ordered it. When I asked at 19:10 where it was, I was told to wait another 15 minutes. The taxi finally showed up at 19:25.

I was there just for a dinner, a conference gala dinner.

It's a lovely place, with clean, spacious rooms, a pleasant garden, and a warm swimming pool. The one downside for me is that the bar is a bit expensive.
