El Dorado Inn

A week later, we’re still trying to get the hotel fee refunded, and they keep giving us the runaround. If you have time to keep fighting for your money, give it a try. Otherwise, don’t bother. We booked in a hurry because we were exhausted and needed somewhere fast, without checking the reviews first. Once we got the keys and carried our luggage to the room, we were hugely disappointed. It smelled bad, the carpet was old and dirty, and the area under the sink was peeling and looked like it had water damage. The bathroom didn’t seem clean, and the comforter looked old and dirty too. I’m highly allergic to mold, so I couldn’t stay another minute. It seemed like the place mainly rented to single men, and I’d never consider bringing my kids there.

The place looks much better from outside than it does inside. In the bathroom, the toilet leaked, the grout was black, the sink was clogged, and there was a hole in the ceiling where a light fixture had been moved. The beds were so hard I felt like I was on the floor. There was no AC or heat, the extra lock on the door was broken, and I had to leave a $20 deposit for the remote. I asked for a refund for the next night because I didn’t want to stay, but they refused. They don’t give refunds. Then, while I was getting dressed, the cleaning lady walked straight into our room. Horrible experience. I picked this place from the photos and was completely fooled.

I stopped for breakfast while passing through Delicias, but didn’t stay at the hotel. The restaurant has a wood-heavy, old-fashioned look. There was a good selection of Mexican dishes, eggs made in classic Mexican styles as well as scrambled, pancakes, oatmeal, and other usual breakfast choices. Drinks included coffee, orange juice, water, and milk. We were seated and served quickly, and the service was great. The table also seemed to get about six slices of toast, with butter on the side if you wanted it. The food tasted good and the prices were normal. I had a great experience and would come back if I’m in the area looking for a restaurant.

It looked like a nice hotel, though I didn’t stay. The staff kindly let us know they had no rooms available.
