Ramada Via Veneto

Our room was over 75° F and far too uncomfortable to sleep in after the AC broke. The front desk said maintenance had gone for the night and couldn’t fix it, but it took an hour just for someone to come up and tell us. What kind of hotel has no maintenance on site at 7 pm?

I came away surprised that I slept better here than at the Hyatt and Hilton during the same CDMX trip. I stayed five nights because getting around by transit was easy, and despite the street noise from overlooking the metro, I rested really well. The neighborhood isn’t the prettiest, but there are good tacos, tortas, and markets. A few streets north there are lots of prostitutes and motels, though I felt safe and was fine walking at night.

I stayed October 2-4, 2024, and only realized at checkout that I’d left valuables in the room safe: my US passport, credit and ID cards, and headphones. I went back to get them, but was told an employee had already opened the safe and found nothing inside. They apparently open safes without witnesses. I spoke with several staff, including the assistant manager, the employee involved, and his supervisor, but nobody would give me their name or the hotel manager’s contact details. I felt they were more concerned with protecting themselves than helping a distressed guest. It’s extremely disappointing for a Marriott-affiliated hotel to handle this so poorly. Be cautious or look elsewhere to avoid potential problems. MDA

Location really depends on your plans, but this place worked amazingly for mine. It’s right by Ermita Metro Station, and the CDMX Metro is very convenient and affordable, probably the easiest way to get around the city. I arrived at Mexico city’s Taxqueña South Bus Station, and the hotel was only two metro stops away. It’s also close to Frida House in Coyoacán and Six Flags.
