The place is peaceful and only a couple of minutes from the beach, and we really enjoyed staying there. The service was disappointing, though. We had to ask for towels and toilet paper that should have been there already, and the towels arrived six hours after we checked in with no apology.

The apartment was spacious, with a great balcony, a good kitchen and fridge, and two bathrooms. It felt safe and was close to the beach, and the price was good. The futon was awful as both a bed and a couch. AC was only in the bedroom with the two double beds, and there’s no elevator, just stairs.

Jimmy was awesome to deal with, gracias Jimmy. But I wouldn’t recommend this place. I travel on a budget and often choose apartments with small kitchens, and this seemed to fit, close to the beach too. I was in El Cuyo with two other couples who stayed elsewhere, and this was the only place I couldn’t recommend. I honestly don’t understand its high ratings. It felt depressing, like a basic two-star resort with a kitchenette. The patio furniture was uncomfortable, and the rooftop had only two swings and no other seating. We didn’t want to spend much time in the apartment, on the patio, or upstairs. You pay cash when you arrive, so work out the taxes and bring the exact amount if you can. Check-in came with two towels, a roll of toilet paper, and three little soaps. It’s a street from the beach, but there are no beach towels, so bring your own. The kitchen was extremely bare: a plastic fork and knife, a few dishes and cups, and one small frying pan. We’d planned to cook a couple of meals, especially breakfast, but couldn’t with what was there. We ate out every meal, which rather defeated the point of having an apartment. There were no water jugs either, so you’ll need to buy water for everything, even brushing your teeth, and that also makes cooking difficult. Water pressure was low, hot water lasted about five minutes, and the sinks didn’t drain. The beds were okay. We had two doubles but slept together in one, since they couldn’t be joined. There was just one sheet, which is normal for Mexico. The AC was fine aside from some remote issues. There were no drawers or hangers, so we had to put our things wherever we could. No sofa or proper place to hang out. You can ask for a hammock, but good luck getting one. I’d spend the extra $50 USD to stay somewhere else. There are lots of nicer places for the same price.

The apartment is very nice, and the beach is just one block away. I found the town charming, though it didn’t really appeal to me and I think there are better places. If you’re after somewhere quiet and peaceful, this spot is ideal.
