Casa Colibrí El Cuyo

The apartment is spacious, but the service was really bad. Nobody cleaned for a week, and we weren’t given clean towels. The kitchen wasn’t fully equipped either. I asked for a pot, but they didn’t even bother to reply.

Rocco gave us a nice welcome. After that, well... The dog next door was nasty and kept us awake until 3 a.m., then the chicken coop started up two hours later. The development feels purely profit-driven, with shipping containers built right up to the property lines. If everyone built like that, beautiful El Cuyo would be ruined. There’s no point hoping to spend time outdoors.

The town is spectacular, with a simple charm. The place itself is inexpensive, clean, and simple, and very close to the beach. The neighbor’s roosters start crowing at 1 a.m., but it’s a small town, and I understand that neighbors can do what they want on their own property. Inside, the only curtains are blackout curtains, so you have to keep them closed for privacy and sit in complete darkness. It really needs curtains that let in some light while keeping people from looking in.

There are a few small things that could be improved. The bed linens and towels are very faded, and double curtains would help. If the hot and cold taps are switched, that should be labeled. A spot in the bathtub for soap and shampoo would be useful too. The work feels like it hasn’t received much care.
