Breakfast was generous, with fruit, granola, yogurt, and excellent coffee. There’s espresso too if you want something stronger. I appreciated the garden room’s screened windows and cross-breeze, since I don’t like A/C. The king bed was comfortable and the room was well maintained. Casa Mia is an eco hotel, so they care about the environment. Marco and his friendly team run it well. Restaurants are a 10-15 minute walk away, and the beach is about three minutes through the dunes. My husband and I spent a weekend unwinding in this small fishing village, kayaking, paddle boarding, and enjoying this quiet part of the Yucatan. I enjoyed every minute and hope to return for a longer stay with Marco and co.

If barefoot, off-the-beaten-track stays are your thing, El Cuyo and Casa Mia are just right. The beach location is amazing, and the whole place felt wonderfully relaxed. We went to El Cuyo, Mexico over the weekend so my sons, one of their friends, and I could learn kiteboarding. It turned into much more than lessons. At Casa Mía El Cuyo Eco Beach Boutique Hotel, we felt like family from the start, and it came to feel like a second home. Marco, who owns the hotel and Extreme Control Kitesurfing El Cuyo, is warm and generous, and clearly lives and breathes kiteboarding. Nick and the whole instructor team were knowledgeable, professional, dedicated, and genuinely caring. As a father, I don’t take lightly trusting people with my kids in a sport like this, but with them it was an easy choice. They helped build confidence as well as teach technique. By the end, both boys could ride the kite for hundreds of meters. Seeing their excitement, pride, and progress is something I’ll never forget. El Cuyo feels peaceful, authentic, and untouched, and Casa Mía with Extreme Control made the experience complete. We’ll absolutely come back. I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Casa Mía and taking lessons with Extreme Control Kitesurfing if you want to learn and feel welcome, safe, inspired, and part of something special. We were very comfortable in the penthouse, with the sea, lagoon, and palm trees spread out in a breathtaking view. Our three-night booking was on the top floor, and the friendly host Marco and his courteous staff made the stay feel even better.
