The restaurant food was surprisingly good for a hotel, and the staff were polite and kind. We were just a short drive from downtown El Oro, with a gas station nearby and a grocery store across the street. The property has a hotel section and a drive-in motel section. Our room was spacious, with a big closet and soft pillows. We paid $900 MXN for a double room for three; the beds were okay. The bathroom was narrow but had what we needed, though there was no hair dryer. The water can get scalding hot. If you're visiting in winter, you can ask for extra blankets. It was very quiet, though we may have been the only guests there at the time. I'd recommend it.

The room was clean and cozy, with warm brown colors and a fluffy extra blanket in the closet for anyone who gets cold. I loved how Hotel Real Del Oro brings El Oro's mining history into the decor, the room names, and the hotel's whole feel. The balcony windows were lovely, but trucks and motorcycles were loud enough to bother a light sleeper whenever they went by. We brought our own champagne and desserts and asked for champagne glasses. I'm giving it three stars because there was no hot water. I'd stay again, but would look into how to make sure I can get a hot shower next time.
