Tortugas Cerritos Beachfront Hotel

The rooms are fairly basic but do the job, and the resort itself is good. The location is amazing, close to a gorgeous beach and surfable waves. My main complaints were that the pool was too cold to swim in and the hot tubs rarely worked. The hot water in our unit was also hit or miss.

This is a restaurant review only, since I haven’t stayed in the rooms. The setting is beautiful, right on the beach with a panoramic ocean view. I’ve eaten there several times, and the food is good quality with good service. What pulled the rating down was the beer pricing. There are two IPAs on the menu, at 200 and 250 pesos. At today’s exchange rate, that’s $14 for a 12 oz beer. Charging that much for a bottle feels ridiculous and like a slap in the face, especially when a double smash burger with fries is 250 pesos. This isn’t a Michelin star restaurant in Napa.

The wait staff were wonderful and made us feel at home. The place was very clean, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and wonderful. Room amenities could use a few additions, like hangers, hooks, a bedroom dresser, and kitchen utensils. The bar prices were high.

You can get to the surf in three minutes on foot, and the place is comfortable, safe, easy to find, and a lot of fun. I can’t recommend it enough. Honestly, part of me hesitates to tell people about it because it feels like one of Baja Sur’s best-kept secrets.
