City Express by Marriott Ensenada

The ocean views are impressive, and I think every room may have one, with sunset views from the front side. I’d definitely return. This is one of the nicest hotels in Ensenada, Mexico, and that context matters if you’re choosing a place in the city. The off-street parking is in a safe area, though the spaces are tight for maxi-SUVs. There are plenty of street spaces too. The pool is comfortably warm. Rooms are on the small side, but that didn’t bother me since I was out most of the day. The air conditioning worked well and stayed quiet on low fan. It wasn’t perfectly clean, but the dining room was clean and the free breakfast was impressive. The front desk was kind and helpful. I spoke with a manager named "Luis", who was a gentleman and very helpful. This isn’t in the downtown tourist area, so there aren’t rowdy bars nearby. Most restaurants within walking distance are quite nice, and there aren’t taco stands everywhere. 7/11 is one block away. If you’re very picky, you may prefer staying in the Valle de Guadalupe wine country, where there are lots of exceptional hotels, about 20 minutes from Ensenada. It’s a trade-off. Google calls this a "2-star hotel," which seems inaccurate to me given the full breakfast, off-street parking, and nice pool. A 2-star place would be like a Motel 6, and this is far beyond that. If you shop by price alone, you might find somewhere cheaper, but probably without breakfast or a properly heated pool. I hope this helps.
