Our friends asked to upgrade their room at check-in and were told it wasn’t possible, even though several rooms were available and no one else checked in during our stay. Our car was the only one in the lot all weekend. We were the only hotel guests on a popular weekend and at first wondered why. We’ve stayed here for years, but won’t return unless there are serious repairs and renovations. In our newly rented room at Hotel Partana, my husband spotted a fresh brown smear on the rug by the bed and asked, “Feces or chocolate?” The rooms need repainting and a deep clean, not just touch-ups. They were dirty and in disrepair, and the floors were so filthy we wore shoes to go to the bathroom. The shower didn’t drain, leaving water pooled up to our ankles, and there was writing on the shower glass from the previous guest, so it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The bed and bath linens were gray, dingy, and stained, and the bathrobes were old and stained too. Our friends found minibar snacks in a box held together with blue painters tape. Loose pool pavers were a serious safety hazard. The pool waterfall was out of use, with tape over the opening, and both pools had debris at the bottom. My husband skimmed them himself. Some poolside tables were rusty and needed painting. No housekeeping was done during our two-night stay. At checkout, the attendant said she thought we’d asked not to have service, but we hadn’t. We found the previous guest’s maid tip on the floor, which left us wondering how thoroughly the room had been cleaned before we arrived, if at all. We told management how unhappy we were but got little explanation for the drop in cleanliness, maintenance, and service. For the price, a much more comfortable stay is available in the Valle. It’s a shame, because the hotel used to be very nice and well kept.

The vineyards looked stunning from the property, and our room had gorgeous views too. The pool and jacuzzi were amazing. We had a great three-night stay, thanks in part to the wonderful staff. The rooms were fresh, very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location is fantastic, with restaurants, a coffee shop, an ice cream parlor, and a tasting room all within walking distance. I loved our stay at Hotel Partana and would absolutely recommend it. I’d definitely come back.

Room 8 was right by the pool, past rows of grapevines, and we loved having our own terrace with a lounging sofa for the wide mountain and vineyard views. The shipping-container buildings looked stylish and fit naturally into the surroundings. We were happy to find a Nespresso maker in the room. I love having a decent coffee maker when I travel, and it’s the best, much better than Keurig. Hotel Partana is pet-friendly, so bring your pets along. It’s also a lovely place to spend a whole day soaking up life in the Valle. The hotel combines hospitality and design with a location close to world-class dining. Finca Altozano, Lupe, Das Cortez, and Animalón are all on the same property, putting great food and drink right at your doorstep and making it easy to enjoy wine, food, and a stay together.

We came to celebrate my sister’s 40th birthday, and the staff were great. We asked for a simple balloon setup and they delivered. The room was lovely, with AC and a great upstairs terrace for sunset. There’s a breakfast place and a restaurant right next door too. We loved it!!

The cold was the dealbreaker. Even with the heater cranked all the way up, our room barely got warmer than outside, and the shower was lukewarm at best. Staff said both were already at their maximum. The fire pit was unusable too, with a golf cart parked on it the whole stay and no seating around it. Even if it had been clear, there didn’t seem to be staff available to light it. Hotel Partana is pretty, with a nice roof view, and the WiFi was very fast. Each room also had coffee and a carafe of water, but once you ran out overnight, there was nowhere to refill it. There’s no TV or much else. The nearby restaurants were delicious, though they only seemed to be open from around 1 to 9 pm. We stayed three midweek nights and paid $210 a night before cleaning and Airbnb fees, and you have to book through Airbnb. Staff were onsite for only a couple of hours a day, if that. Asking for nearby restaurant or activity suggestions got us “I don’t know,” even in Spanish. Unlike the other properties in the valley, this place has no gate security, so at night you’re left with whoever else is staying there. For about $100 more per night, there are places with a pool, hot tub, open bar, included breakfast, fire pits, security, and activities they can suggest or arrange. You may also be able to find many of those things for about the same price as Partana if you’re willing to give up the photogenic look. It could be a fine option in spring or fall when it’s warm, but for what’s here, the price is too high. Hotel Partana has potential, though there’s a lot to improve. The area is developing quickly, so maybe more competition will push them to step things up in a couple of years.
