Best Western Plus Monterrey Colon

The staff were friendly and professional, and I especially appreciated how attentive the parking attendant and doorman were. He watched the lot and kept an eye on cars and people, which made me feel better about leaving our car there. The price, service, and recent renovation made this a four-star stay for me, despite the hotel’s age. The bathroom was spotless, with newer modern tile, although the shower head was old and still worked. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were much too big and bulky for me. The room was very nice for an older hotel. The AC was loud overnight and struggled to keep up with the city heat. It was 99f outside that day. Breakfast was typical, though the bread was surprisingly soft and fresh instead of hard and stale like at other hotels. The orange juice tasted fresh and was very good.

They hold events regularly, but there aren’t enough parking spaces. Arrive late and you may have to leave your car on a side street in a sketchy part of town, so be aware.

The hotel decor was lovely, and I really liked the gorgeous outside gardens. The location was awesome, and everything was very clean. There was lots of noise from the hallway and from guests next door and upstairs, though the bed, mattress, and sheets were all very comfortable.

The service was bad, the bathrooms smelled, and the breakfast wasn’t good. It’s the same eggs and fried beans every day, and it ends before 10 am. Go early, because if you don’t, there may be nothing left. Not recommended at all.
