CHN Hotel Monterrey Centro, Trademark by Wyndham

I booked and paid for an executive room, but they gave me a standard one. Reception insisted it was executive, even though it clearly had no sofa or sofa bed. There were no carpeted floors, just two dingy towels and no washcloth or floor towel. The shower door wouldn't close, so the bathroom floor got soaked. It wasn't comfortable at all. Don't stay here. Crown Plaza is a million times better!

The hotel looked nothing like the pictures on Agoda and Booking, and I wasn't happy with my stay. My room walls were stained black, like they were dirty. The shower looked nice, though. The place felt really run-down, and I wouldn't recommend it if you're hoping for a great experience.

At check-in we were told the electricity wasn't working and we'd have to wait. Once we were let into a room, the bathroom floor had urine on it and there was food in the toilet. We asked for another room, but its sheets were dirty, the walls had dirt stains, and there was no electricity or A/C. They gave us a refund receipt when we asked for our money back, but the refund still hasn't come through. I booked through Expedia, and they tried contacting the hotel but couldn't reach anyone to help get my money back. The room didn't have the basics it was supposed to, including electricity, clean linens, a clean bathroom, and A/C. The hotel should be rated far below 4.2 stars, maybe one at most. I'd consider raising my rating a bit and accept that mistakes happen if management would just respond to Expedia and refund us for a room we didn't use and that they couldn't accommodate. Check-in was supposed to be 8/6/25.

The location felt safe, with plenty of buses around. It’s about a 30-minute walk to the downtown bus station and 20 minutes to Macroplaza and Barrio Antiguo. The hotel itself was okay, though a bit worn: my door squeaked when I closed it, and the AC barely cooled the room at night. I didn’t see any insects. Breakfast was decent, with eggs, fruit, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, and coffee. One morning they had prickly pear, which was delicious.
