This place is plain and basic, and looks and feels like a hostel. During Independence weekend the online price for a single room was $75, then later it dropped to about $30. The buffet breakfast costs 200 pesos, around $12. It was very basic, with eggs and omelets. There was also a pot of menudo we’d wanted to try, but the smell was too gamy for us, so we skipped it.

The staff were very friendly, and the service was very good. There’s a language barrier, but you can still get your needs across. If you arrive before check-in, you can leave your bags at the hotel and go explore nearby. The bathroom was nice, the beds were comfy, and there was a TV, along with the other things you’d expect and more for this price. Recommended for tourists staying short term in GDL!

We spent three nights there and had a really unpleasant stay. The place is on a very busy street, day and night. If you can handle being woken up throughout the night by ambulance sirens and people honking like crazy, plus maid service starting as early as 7:30 AM and dragging steel furniture from one side of the room to the other, then you should be fine. I nearly forgot the club across the street. On weekends it has loud music and karaoke late into the night. Weekends in Mexico start on Thursdays.

The room let in a lot of street noise at night because it wasn’t well insulated. We also had a few problems during the stay. After the first night, we noticed bed bug bites and told the hotel. They moved us to another room, but said they wouldn’t pay to have our clothes cleaned if any bugs had gotten into our luggage. A few days later, my girlfriend’s Pyjama was missing. We searched the room and told reception, who said it was strange and suggested we ask housekeeping the next day. We did, and got it back that day.

The hotel was clean and right in the center. I left a card and a hundred dollar bill in the nightstand drawer while I was out exploring, then forgot them when I checked out. As I waited for my Uber at the curb, the maid ran outside to return both. She could have kept the money, and I’m at a loss for words. Being a maid anywhere can’t be easy. I wish everyone had her moral standards. She’s an angei, and I’m feeling good about people today.
