Casa Nican by Barrio Mexico

The room itself was gorgeous, with a great terrace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a really comfortable bed. Still, I can’t recommend staying here. The design seems to have been done by someone who had fun with it but didn’t think much about the people using it. There’s no soundproofing at all, so sleep depends on whether your neighbors are considerate. We weren’t lucky: one person had a loud, long conversation right outside our door at 3 am. The door is basically a gap covered with mosquito netting for ventilation, and there’s no AC. The netting didn’t keep mosquitoes out, either, and we had them in our room. We tried to get help, but there’s barely any service. You may not see an employee during your stay, since check-in is self-service. They give you a WhatsApp number, but it’s only reachable during business hours, which is a shame for a company with six locations, and even then they may not reply.

During my December stay the room was freezing, and I never had hot water. I sent several messages, but replies came late, and the person I reached was very rude.

I really liked my studio in this quaint little boutique hotel. There’s plenty to do within walking distance.

The building and rooms are really cute and nice. The downside is that the WiFi is trash.
