Country Hotel and Suites

We planned to stay two nights, but the room was so bad we left after the first. It was still dirty, none of the windows or balcony windows locked, and I wondered why they make you sign a form saying they're not responsible if anything is stolen. The safe was unusable because it had no batteries. The AC was moldy too, and we woke up feeling terrible.

The so-called premium room had two king beds, a table, and a last-century TV on the wall, nothing else to make it feel premium. After moving rooms around midnight because the first one was filthy, my partner realized in the morning that they'd left a very expensive makeup item behind. Staff didn't want to help, even though they booked the room we'd moved out of, and no one had reported the missing item to us. The place was beyond dirty, with someone else's hair on the shower walls and months-old rubbish in the corners. Look under the bed if you're brave. It wasn't a pleasant stay.

The room was spacious, with a king bed, a long desk and chair, a bench, and a single sofa. The walk-in shower was nice, but the bathroom sink faucet was broken and shifted whenever we turned it on. The room was filthy too. Dust collected when I ran my fingers over the table, there was little bits of trash around, an old soap wrapper in the shower, and the mirrors weren't properly cleaned. We couldn't find the TV or AC remotes, and when I asked, the receptionist said she'd bring them in a minute, but never did. The next day she called the room to ask whether we wanted it cleaned, which seemed odd. I thought housekeeping usually comes and knocks first. We stayed for three days and two nights. The hotel was easy to find and the area wasn't bad. The receptionists were friendly, though not very sharp. One asked for my ID but couldn't get my last name right, then took a while to find the booking. She handed me the wrong key and said the bellboy would come help with our suitcases. When he arrived, he asked us to wait while he spoke with her. She called shortly after with a different key. The bellboy said he didn't know why she'd given us a room number that wasn't even in service. We let it go. He showed us to the room four floors up, and there were no elevators.

The staff were friendly and courteous, and the room service was great with good food. The hotel is on a very busy boulevard, though, and the website makes it sound much closer to the historic center than it is. Travel time depends on traffic. The room needed a better sweep and mop, and the furniture hadn't been dusted carefully. I found blond hairs from other guests on my belongings. Working outlets were far from the tables and nightstands. The bathroom needed a new curtain, and the shower plumbing needed cleaning along with a new shower head.
